Public Works

We are responsible for the maintenance and repair of Little Canada's city streets, city parks, sidewalks and trails, and public parking lots. In addition, we maintain and repair the municipal water system and the sanitary and storm sewer systems. Our Public Works Department consists of six full-time employees and as many as seven seasonal employees. Feel free to contact us at any time with your questions, comments, or suggestions.

After-Hours Emergencies

Please call Ramsey County Sheriff’s Department with any after-hours public works emergencies, including sewer backups, water leaks, and street problems. To reach the Ramsey County Dispatch Center (Non-Emergency) call 651-767-0640.

Fall Sweeping

The street sweeper will be out and about starting in October.  We try to time the sweep to pick up as many leaves as possible from the street.  Sometimes the weather turns too cold or snowy early and we aren't able to finish.  The goal is to sweep the entire city at least once and some of the areas with excess leaves twice if possible.  Please refrain from piling leaves from your property in the street.  The extra leaves are hard on the equipment and slow the process down, which can lead to not getting the entire city swept.  Leaves from private property can be deposited at Ramsey County compost sites at no charge.  They can also be deposited in the yard waste container if you have one.

Daytime Watering Ban in Effect

A City-wide daytime watering ban is in effect every day May 1 through September 30, from 10:00 AM to 6 PM.  Please refrain from watering your lawn during those times.
